                                                       Assistant Clerk (A new position)

 

Salary Scale Point SCP 14 - 18  £16,781 - £18,070 (dependent on experience) pro rata + Pension through True Potential

Actual Pay £7,257 - £7,814 per annum - Maximum 16 hours per week 

 

Uppingham has a dynamic Town Council looking for opportunites as presented under Localism. This has seen an increase in workload, resulting in the new role of Assistant Clerk. We are seeking a  proactive individual who would welcome the challenge of working in such an environment.

 

Ideally applicants can demonstrate:-  

  • Excellent administration, IT and financial management skills, preferably with local government knowledge or an active interest in this sector
  • The ability to communicate easily by phone, email and face to face on a wide range of topics  
  • Confidence to use their initiative and deputise for the Clerk when requested
  • Excellent people skills, including the ability to work with Councillors, members of the public and on occasions the local media        

The post includes some evening work  and a flexible approach to holiday cover is essential. The successful applicant will be  encouraged to obtain CiLCA (Certificate in Local Council Administration) as part of their development into the role. The candidate ideally will ideally have a technical qualification, some hardware experience, and have a background working knowledge of electronic systems and a basic knowledge of networking and software. Responsibilities and Duties

The job will entail travel in the UK, and possibly the opportunity to travel to other countries

Working with customers, integrators and installers, building relationships, pre, during and post installation.

Supporting our customers via telephone, remotely online, but occasionally at customers premises.

Problem solving for customers and seeing it through to resolution.

Maintenance of hardware equipment and, project and product related documentation, including test sheets and lifetime records

Knowledge of network based and control systems.

Due to rapid growth of the business, we have an exciting opportunity opening up for an IT Service Desk Assistant / Technician to join our friendly IT team, based in Uppingham, Rutland

This is a great opportunity for a motivated and professional 1st line technician, with excellent customer service and problem-solving skills, and a ‘can-do’ approach to take the next step in their career.

Reporting to and working under the Service Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing 1st line support to the business, responding to and dealing with tickets and phone calls raised to our IT Helpdesk.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

To provide a high standard of 1st line IT support to our user base.

To deal with support issues which are logged via the IT Helpdesk and telephone.

To take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.

To assist employees with IT related queries, mentor and knowledge share.

To assist in the build and deployment of our systems.

To assist the Service Manager with their day-to-day activities such as:

User/Group Administration

Software/Hardware Installation

IT Asset Management

 

Required skills/experience

Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic technical (software/hardware) issues

Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal.

Ability to adapt and learn

 

Desirable but not essential skills

Proven experience in a 1st Line / Helpdesk / Desktop support role

Database Technologies – MS Access / MSSQL etc.

Web Development – PHP/ASP.net/C#.net or similar

Salesforce / CRM experience

 

Working Hours:

This is a full time, office based role 8.30am – 5.30pm Mon-Fri, with a minimal amount of out of hours support split with the IT Helpdesk Supervisor, and occasional additional out-of-hours requirements where time off in lieu will be allocated.
