Trainee IT Service Desk Technician / Software and Hardware Tester

 

Due to rapid growth of the business, we have an exciting opportunity opening up for a Trainee IT Service Desk Technician / Software and Hardware Tester to join our friendly IT team, based in Uppingham, Rutland.

Reporting to and working under the Service Technician, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the business, responding to and dealing with tickets and phone calls raised to our IT Helpdesk.

 

The Role

              ·       To enhance your technical knowledge and gain experience in how technology plays an essential role in our customers business, you will be working within the Service Desk Technician where you will be trained to deliver professional IT support by email and telephone.

 

           ·       You will also be given the opportunity to get involved in challenging IT projects, monitoring client’s infrastructure/services remotely as well as configuring and building client machines in the Uppingham Office.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (once fully trained)

 

·       To provide a high standard of IT support to our user base.

·       To deal with support issues which are logged via the IT Helpdesk and telephone.

·       To take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.

·       To assist employees with IT related queries.

·       To assist in the build and deployment of our systems.

·       To assist the Service Technician with their day-to-day activities such as:

                    o   User/Group Administration

                    o   Software/Hardware Installation

                    o   IT Asset Management

·       To assist the Project Manager with their day-to-day activities such as:

                    o   Testing software

                    o   Testing hardware

                    o   Feedback results to Project Manager

 

Required Skills/Experience 

  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic technical (software/hardware) issues
  • Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal
  • Ability to adapt and learn

Working Hours

 

This is a full-time, office-based role 8.30am – 5.00pm Mon-Fri, with a minimal amount of out-of-hours support split with the IT Helpdesk Supervisor, and occasional additional out-of-hours requirements where time off in lieu will be allocated.
